Nicole Zimmer (She/Her) - Executive Teacher
What excites you most about working at Throsby school?
A new public school, a new opportunity to facilitate best learning outcomes for ALL students! A vision that I whole heartedly embrace and live by every day. The four pillars resonate with me on a deep level. Curiosity is a quality that I have fostered in students and staff throughout my career, the more questions the better. I champion inclusive learning environments, seeing people learn about differences and understanding that diversity is what creates thriving, creative and caring communities. Connections, community, a sense of belonging and trusted relationships open doors to true, meaningful, and deep learning.
What inspired you to work in education?
I was very fortunate to meet several fantastic teachers throughout my own schooling in the public education system and throughout my studies. The great potential that resides in each and every student and the challenge to facilitate learning and support students to be the very best version of themselves.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learnt in your career?
Listen more than you talk. As humans it is one of our basic needs to feel heard, seen and understood. When you honour someone else with your undivided attention, you help assuage their anxiety and assist in getting clarity
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Model the behaviours you want to see – walk the talk.
